Message from Charles McJilton, Second Harvest Japan:
Many people from overseas have asked what they can do to help and some have wanted to send us food. The best way is through financial donations. For every $1 donated, we can deliver $10 worth of food. If people have already collected food, we are suggesting they donate this to the local food bank and the money they would have spent on postage can be donated to us. A typical box of food sent to Japan will cost about $20 in postage. Using the postage as a financial donation, we can deliver more than $200 worth of food.
Helps people search for loved one and friends by using video recordings of people in the shelters. Most of the videos are in Japanese, but there are English notes for those no-Japanese people who are looking for someone.
Here is a cute little video to help explain the nuclear reactor problem to kids. Its in Japanese, with English subtitles. Warning: some of the language may be offensive to toilet-language sensitive pepople
