Availability of Potassium Iodide Tablets and Safety of Tap Water

How U.S. citizens can get potassium iodide (KI) tablets, for those who have been advised to take it by emergency management officials, public health officials, or doctor. There are risks associated with taking KI. From article via Japan Times, “The central government of Japan, on the other hand, is only dispensing iodide tablets to people in the 20-km evacuation zone near the plant but is ready to distribute more to local residents outside the area.”

Second Harvest Japan – request for financial donations

Message from Charles McJilton, Second Harvest Japan:

Many people from overseas have asked what they can do to help and some have wanted to send us food. The best way is through financial donations. For every $1 donated, we can deliver $10 worth of food. If people have already collected food, we are suggesting they donate this to the local food bank and the money they would have spent on postage can be donated to us. A typical box of food sent to Japan will cost about $20 in postage. Using the postage as a financial donation, we can deliver more than $200 worth of food.
